Use Straight Talk service on an iPhone/Android AT&T phones?

My name is Mark, and I work for Straighttalk. The idea of using Straighttalk SIM card with AT&T phones is actually good. However, as far as my knowledge is concern, the idea may work but only for a particular span of time, and it does not assure of good service. The search for network coverage may experience some errors. Furthermore, in the long run either the phone or the SIM card will be deactivated for fraudulence use.

i didnt think straight talk used sim cards at all…so now i am confused????

i own a small cell phone store somewhere where u will never go i hope. and about two months ago i found out about this. the orignal post is wrong about 3g.. you will get 3g as long as u download the straighttalkzip and mail it to your self.. not only does straight talk offer the lowest smart phone unlimited plan available on gsm networks in the entire usa. but they will work in any gsm phone especially att cause there is no need to unlock the phone. hvendwh sell u a used iphone for 399.99 on the smart talk 45$ unlimited. now i cant get enough used iphones.. i was able to find 150 straight talk nokia E71 for 13004 so i jumped on um.. good luck to all of u trying to beat the man out there.. but as for smartphone data plans– if this is what u chose that u have chosen the absoulte best..not second or third!!!##1 yuo really cant go back to fix mispelling i will never use this site again to spreed my vast data base of info

#1 This only works with the Nokia E71 and the Nokia 6790 from Straight Talk.
#2 If you do this be careful not to abuse your data. Just because ST says it’s unlimited does not make it true….try to keep it around 2GB a month and you should not be bothered. Use WiFi when possible. Data usage is the biggest reason people get kicked off of STs network and blacklisted.
#3 DO NOT call ST customer service with any other phone besides the Straight Talk phone. They can see your IMEI at that point.
#4 3G DOES WORK…..but only with an AT&T phone. I get 7mbps down and 1.25mbps down on Speedtest with my HTC Inspire.
#5 You cannot sell the ST phone. Keep it. Put it in a drawer. If some one activates it on another account they will deactivated your SIM card.
I have been doing this since January. It does work, I have never been cut off, or had a phone call from ST. Just use common sense with the data usage and your chances of ever losing service are very unlikely. After all….if you not using any more data that you could on the ST phone and they are still getting their money…..why would they cut you off? It’s possible….but not as likely.

Im so pissed off. I got this Samsung T528G today. Its decent. but what i found is that I HATE touch screen for texting. SO I got this phone at Walmart with a 45$ plan. WalMart will take the phone back for a refund but not the plan. Fine. Whatever. So I want to get the Lg 900G phone cause it has a keyboard im more use too. And seriously, the internet on these phones and nothing like an Iphone. Its slow. The browsers suck. But you still cant get a plan as cheap as Srtaight talk for minutes and texts.. Anyway. Walmart doesnt have the LG900G. So I go to the Straight talk website and i cant get the phone without paying at least one month of service. WTH? How about people like me who just want a replacement and already have a phone? BTW. I tried sticking my Straight Talk sim card in another Unloicked GSM phone. it didnt work. So I tried to get Straight Talk to assign the sim with the serial and imei of the phone I anted to use ( that isnt a straight talk phone ) they didnt go for it at all. Im getting really tired of dealing with walmart and Straight Talk. Especially since I can barely understand anything these foreigners say when i cal customer support.

2gb? i was useing like 5gb on my e71 and probably that much on iphone with them. hell i turn my phone into a hotspot. the only you need to watch out for is updateing your phone if you look on att website they can figure out you have a iphone when you update the os

Is there anything special you have to do to the Inspire? or just put the sim card from the E71 in the phone??

Update: So i get a Nokia E71. Im using the 45$ plan ST has. The phone is really nice for texting just like I wanted. Here is the major drawbacks for me with this phone. the e71 does have a switch on off flash for the camera. Nokia decided to disable thsi switch. So even if I click the off button the flash still comes on during a picture. And not just for pictures. It makes a short bright burst for pics which everybody can see for a good distance away. Even if you are in total light and dont need a flash. When using the video recoder is doesnt just burst. It stays on. So imagine recording a movie of someone. They are made to be in a super bright light that doesnt go off. Its friggin annoying !!! Noone wants to have a super bright light in there face. And there is no way to turn this off At all. Not even with a hack. The alone will definitely make me find another phone to use. The phone is really nicebut dam. Nokia I want to kick you in the face cause you dictate how i use my own phone. WHo cares what we do with it. its for us. We paid allot of money. And from what i can tell all Nokia phones are like this. This is why you see black tape on so many Nokia phones. They cover up the flash. I was wondering why they did that but now I know why. Seriously Nokia you suck. Royally. Again. Imagine trying to record a video and the person you are recording is totally anoyyed at that bright light. No more vids from them cause now they dont want that bright light in there eyes. trying to take a pic or vid on anything makes a bright spot on images due to the flash. Imagine buying a camera that you cant shut off the flash. You would return it right? On to the next subject is not being able to send a website link to people. You cant at all using the website browser with the phone. But you can download and install opera mini to do this. Its just a hassle. The actually customer service for ST is about as bad as it gets. Im talking about from the time I call to the time I get hung up on. Its something to try talking to a person who cant understand english. Its something very diff when you try to talk to someone who dont understand you plus cant fix the simplest problems with your phone or account. They will tell u the lamest things to fix a problem and end up keeping u on the phone for a long time just to hope u just hang up from aggrivation. The service is not cheap for nothing. With other expensive companies you are paying for decnt customer service. With ST you are paying for just to use the phone. Good luck when you have a problem. Ill be looking into another company or try to get this sim to work with another phone I can actually use what i intended it for with no blocks or kinks. Oh BTW the E71 has a really low volume even using speaker phone. No way to fix it.

OH I also wanted to point out that if your phones has no minutes but have to call customer support.. Good luck. You cant. There is no way to call customer support without minutes unlike other companies. U have to goto there facebook website and wait. and wait and wait to see if anybody there will respond to your post for help on there facebook page. Imagine having a phone in your hand. Want to ass minutes. But cant cause u just ran out. So u now have to borrow a phone from someone else to add the minutes.. Way to go ST.. Thats as bad as it gets.

Ok I get all this but what if I’m in a smaller town that doesn’t receive AT&T service. We function mostly off of Verizon and Altell, if I use a Verizon phone which I searched around and read works, will the phone services work bc it’s a Verizon phone or will it not work bc AT&T powers the internet and everything else? I bought the Nokia E5 and it works fantastic, including the camera. You have several options and settings, including flash settings. Hope it helps.

i just got s straight talk sim card and tried putting it into my unlocked iphone 3 BUT IT WONTT WORK. it says no service . but the number shows on the phone setting but i cant get recive or use anything in my phone. none of it works. what do i do

I know this was posted like 3months ago but i just wanted to let you know there is a way to add mins to your phn without having to talk to customer service or go through all the other bs. In your phn menu go to prepaid then select add air time and you can enter an air time pin there. Or go to straight talks website and pay with a credit card.

Hi…I have an iphone 3G and the voice/texting works great with my Nokia 6790 sim card from Straight Talk…but, I cannot get the data to work. I have a wireless network, but, it won’t connect to it. It’s my Mom’s old ATT phone, and I can’t figure out how to change it. I’ll paypal someone $20 if they can help me.
