90′s Archives

NICK! NICK! NICK! NICK! NICK! NICK! NICKELODEOOOOONNNN! If you were a kid in the 90′s then you definitely should  know about Nickelodeon! With that said you should remember SNICK! Snick was our 90′s kid Saturday night destination! When it became 8 PM EST we knew it was time for SNICK!

Snick began in 1992 on August 15th and ended on August 28th 2004. It featured great shows like: Clarissa Explains It All, Are You Afraid Of The Dark?, Ren & Stimpy Show, The Adventures Of Pete & Pete, All That and Kenan and Kel.

You can’t forget The Big Orange Couch! The bumpers during commercial break featured The Big Orange Couch in random places like a cow field. The couch eventually was won in 1999. I don’t know who has it now or where it is now.

Snick is all but forgotten now on Nickelodeon. It hasn’t appeared since 2004. We did, however, recently see Snick come back on Teen Nick during The 90′s Are All That. They were celebrating 20 years of Snick. It was great to see it again and I don’t understand why they don’t do that on Saturdays all the time.

Well, thanks for reading! If you have any memories of Snick then comment below!

Below is a very emotional scene between him and Will Smith on Fresh Prince Of Bel Air.

Are You Afraid Of The Dark?

Who didn’t love this show with the tales of the unknown, the unseen and the undead? I mean what is there to be afraid of? There isn’t anything in the dark that isn’t there in the light? Or is there? Tune in at 7:30/6:30 central on Nickelodeon!

I definitely remember watching SNICK on Saturday nights and right after you’d hear the Ren & Stimpy ending theme it was time. It was time for Are You Afraid Of The Dark. What with the spooky clown, the swings in the playground, the boat in the water and the shutters in the attic, it set the mood for the show that was about play out before us. Who could forget the theme song to go along with that too. Creepy stuff, man!

Sadly, Are You Afraid Of The Dark is nowhere to be seen! Unless, it happens to make its way onto The 90′s Are All That. Other than that it isn’t seen anywhere on Television. You can find the series on Amazon and watch some of it on Youtube though!

My creepiest episode was “Laughing In The Dark”. It’s the most fun in the park when your laughing in the dark! The tale of Zeebo where one of the kids run inside a haunted house and steal his cigar.

What was your most terrifying episode of Are You Afraid Of The Dark when you were a kid? What might still creep you out about it if you watched it now as an adult?

If you didn’t like AYAOTD then comment below on why you didn’t too!

So, Nickelodeon executives decided to place this block on Teen Nick at midnight when the twenty somethings are awake and watching television. It seems to be doing fairly well. They are remixing the original promos that aired during the 90′s on said station. Right now the lineup is All That, Kenan & Kel, Clarissa Explains It All and Doug. Nickelodeon is expected to show more 90′s show like Are You Afraid Of The Dark, Double Dare, Legends Of The Hidden Temple, Ren & Stimpy, Salute Your Shorts, Pete & Pete, and much more.
